Mesa's Desert Station Post Office to Close Aug. 21-26 for Improvements

Customers Urged to Visit Nearby Locations for Postal Services

In order to improve customer access and convenience, the Desert Station Post Office located on Broadway Road just west of Power Road will be closed to the public from Tuesday, Aug. 21, through Sunday, Aug. 26.

The temporary closure will allow the Mesa Post Office to make improvements to the facility's parking lot as well as its retail lobby.

During the six days Desert Station is closed, postal customers are encouraged to visit one of these nearby Mesa locations for their Postal Service retail needs:

Bashas' Contract Postal Unit;
6720 E. Broadway Rd.
M-F 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Sat. 8 a.m. - 12 noon

Superstition Springs Station
7316 E. Southern Ave.
M-F 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sat. 8:30 a.m. - 12 noon

Sherwood Station
325 S. Lindsay Rd.
M-F 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Closed Saturday

During Desert Station's brief closure, customers should call (480) 641-1166 for re-delivery service for items such as mail on vacation hold, parcels, Certified Mail, etc.

“When the facility reopens on Monday, Aug. 27,” Mesa Postmaster Robert Hurley said, “we're sure our customers will agree that the resulting improvements justify this minor inconvenience.”

“We appreciate our customers' patience during this construction project,” Hurley added.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $73 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
