ZIP Codes Changing For Some Phoenix Metro Area Addresses on July 1

In order to provide efficient and cost-effective mail delivery now and for the future, the U.S. Postal Service is making changes to several ZIP Code boundaries in the Phoenix metropolitan area, effective July 1, 2007.

Some addresses served by the following Post Offices will receive new ZIP Codes: Avondale (85392), Chandler Ocotillo Station (85286), Gilbert Val Vista Station (85295 & 85298), Goodyear (85395), Maricopa (85238), Phoenix Daisy Mountain Station (85083), Queen Creek (85240) and Scottsdale Kachina Station (85266).

Note: All postal customers affected by these changes are being notified by mail. If a customer does not receive written notification in the next week, his or her address will not be affected by these changes.

The changes were required because of the overall growth in mail deliveries that has accompanied population growth throughout the Valley of the Sun.

Affected customers should begin using their new ZIP Code on July 1 and should notify family, friends, business customers and business associates now.  They should also include their new ZIP Code on reply mail where the sender requests updated or corrected address information.  They should also use their new ZIP Code when reordering stationery such as letterhead, envelopes, promotional literature, forms, and business cards.

Magazine publishers, financial institutions, insurance companies and utilities typically use computerized customer mailing lists, which regularly update address ZIP Codes. Customers do not have to do anything to inform such companies about their new ZIP Code.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to cover its operating expenses. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $73 billion and delivers nearly half the world's mail volume.
