Passport Fair in Ft. Smith

Ft. Smith, AR — Congress approved a change in the International Travel Requirements. The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative requires all travelers, including U.S. citizens, to and from the Americas, the Caribbean, and Bermuda to have a passport to enter or re-enter the United States when traveling by air effective January 8, 2007.
Travel by sea and land border crossings travel requirements have been proposed for June 2009 (subject to change).

To Apply for a Passport, you need:
- Passport Application Form DS-11 – applications for this event are available at all Post Offices in Ft. Smith for you to complete and bring with you or you can download the form at www.usps.com/passport – Do not sign the application. It must be signed in the presence of a Passport Agent.
- Proof of U. S. citizenship (provide one of the following)
- Previous U.S. passport
- Certified U.S. birth certificate
- Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship
- Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth
- Proof of identity (provide one of the following)
- Current, valid driver’s license
- Government or Military ID
- Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship
- For minors under 14 years of age, each child must appear in person and both parents or legal guardians must present evidence of identity.
- Two identical passport photos
- Passport photo service will be provided onsite at the Passport Fairs
Most passports are received within 10-12 weeks. For faster service, additional fees may be paid to the U. S. Department of State for Expedited Handling within 2-3 weeks of receipt and to the U. S. Postal Service for Express Mail overnight shipping there and back. When paying by check, separate checks are required for the U. S. Department of State and the U. S. Postal Service.
The following fees are paid to the U. S. Department of State by check, cash or debit card. When paying by cash or debit card, a $1.05 fee is added to convert the payment to a postal money order.
- Age 16 and older – $67.00 check or $68.05 cash, debit
- Age 15 or younger – $52.00 check or $53.05 cash, debit
- Optional fee for Expedited Service – $60.00 check, cash or debit
- Optional fee for Express Mail Overnight Return Service – $16.25 check, cash or debit
The following fees are paid to the U. S. Postal Service by separate check, cash, debit or credit:
- All ages – $30 acceptance fee
- Passport Photo fee – $15 per set of 2 identical photos
- Optional fee for Express Mail overnight shipment there – $16.25
