Timothy C. Haney was named vice president, Area Operations, for the Northeast Area in May 2007. In July 2009, Haney assumed responsibility for the development and implementation of plans to transition the administrative functions performed by the New York Metro Area office into an expanded Northeast Area operations office. The transition was completed in October 2009, when Haney assumed responsibility for postal operations, including mail processing and distribution, customer service and administrative operations over a geographic area that now encompasses the former New York Metro Area as well as the Connecticut Valley, Greater Boston, Northern New England, Southeast New England and Albany Districts.
In this role, Haney reports to the deputy postmaster general and chief operating officer and is the senior postal official in an area that encompasses Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, New York, parts of New Jersey and the Caribbean. He is responsible for all postal operations including mail processing and distribution, customer service and administrative operations.
Haney joined the Postal Service in 1977 as a clerk in Pasadena, Maryland, and began his management career as a supervisor of Delivery and Collection. Haney has in-depth operations experience, having served as plant manager in seven different plants including senior plant manager in Merrifield, Virginia, and Washington, DC.
Prior to his current position, Haney served for more than 4 years as the district manager of the highly visible Capital District, which serves the nation’s capital and the Washington, DC, metropolitan area.
Haney holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management studies from the University of Maryland, University College, and is the recipient of many awards, the most recent of which was the Postmaster General’s Award in 2006. He resides in the Hartford, Connecticut, area with his wife. They have three sons and three grandchildren.
