JAFFER, VICE PRESIDENT OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS AND COMMUNICATIONS The Board of Governors of the United States Postal Service today voted to file a request with the Postal Rate Commission to increase postage rates in 2006. The requested rate increase will generate funds to meet the $3.1 billion escrow requirement of Public Law 108-18. The filing, to be made in the next 10 days, will increase almost all rates and fees by approximately 5.4%. While the Postal Service will request expedited review from the Postal Rate Commission, postage rates will not increase before 2006. | |
